In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Calpurnia — the title character’s wife — memorably said of death: “When beggars die, there are no comets seen/The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.”
Later this month, there will be many comets ablaze on Fisherman’s Wharf, for the first and only San Francisco location of Hooters is closing, as reported by SFist.
As Mr. Keeling notes, the last day to not go to there is December 21. But there’s a silver lining! All you Hooters aficionados will be relieved to know that December 20 is the alumni day, “where all the old girls” will come back for one last hurrah (for their loyal, not-creepy-at-all fans?), according to the nice person who answers the phones at Hooters.
The reason for the closure is not for lack of wings or sadness or tackiness or political incorrectness. Instead, the Hooters lease is up, and after nearly nine years of the chain, the landlords at Anchorage Square want to change it up. They say that there is no replacement lined up yet, but they are “actively marketing” the space.
